Selly Oak

Selly Oak – is a residential suburban district in south-west Birmingham.

The University of Birmingham houses Selly Oak Campus and is a green and spacious 80 acre site.

The regeneration of the area will place Selly Oak at the heart of the A38 technology corridor, the dynamic centre for knowledge and medical excellence.

There is a mixture of residential properties. Investors have acquired houses within the locality to cater for the students.

The picture is of the Selly Oak Library and the Pumping Station to side. The water pumping station operating in Selly Oak from 1878 until the 1920s. It was built by the Birmingham Corporation Waterworks Department in 1878 to house a Boulton and Watt steam engine pumping water for domestic use from a borehole underneath the building.
