Meet the Team

George, who is an Associate of the RICS, and a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agents, started working for the firm in 2003. However, his exposure to the industry started much earlier on, as he would often accompany his father on appointments as a child. An expert in all areas of Residential Sales, in particular property valuation and new business, George is well regarded in the area for his local knowledge and experience. In his spare time George enjoys coaching a grass roots football team, playing pranks on anyone caught in his path, and spending time with his family.

Charles actually started working in the property industry from a very young age, holding one end of a tape to help his dad measure properties, well before laser measuring equipment was introduced. After graduating from University in 2006 with a degree in Real Estate, Charles joined the business and later became a director of the firm in 2015. He is also member of ARLA, is a Chartered Surveyor, and in his spare time he helps run a “grass-roots football team”, and is a season ticket holder at Aston Villa, along with his wife and two sons.

Irma joined the company in March 2021 and spends her time working across all departments at Scriven & Co, tasked with ensuring that the company runs efficiently and successfully. Irma has been working in Residential property for 15 years, previously leading a successful firm in Birmingham City Centre. However, home is where the heart is, and Irma always wanted to be back in her ‘home patch.’ Outside of work, when Irma is not busy playing chef, chauffeur and all-round PA to her two daughters, she enjoys shopping, socialising and family time, all preferably in the sunshine!

Appointed as a Director in January 2025, Jon has been passionate about property since childhood, although, thankfully, his taste in wallpaper has improved since then! Joining in 2014, he has recently transitioned from lettings and property management to become a RICS-registered Surveyor and Valuer, earning his Level 6 Diploma in Residential Surveying in 2024. Focused on quality over quantity, Jon uses innovative technology to streamline survey reporting. A Halesowen native, he combines local insight with personal home-buying experiences to support clients. Outside of work, Jon trains in mixed martial arts, enjoys social events, and loves live comedy and music.

Martin who is the son of the founder, Jack Scriven, joined the family firm in 1978, after having worked at James & Lister Lee, and the Valuation and Tax Office. Over the years Martin worked alongside his brothers Don, Harry and his sister Linda, and now works alongside two of his four children, George and Charles. Now ‘retired’, Martin is a consultant of the firm, and has over 45 years of experience and local knowledge. In his spare time Martin has a passion for gardening, enjoys walking his dog, and is a season ticket holder at Aston Villa.

Gordon served as an employee of Scriven & Co for over 47 years, and was made a director of the firm in 2007. Having retired in 2024, Gordon now assists the company as a consultant. Initially working in sales and property management, which included the management of markets within Shopping Centres up and down the country, Gordon eventually moved over to Residential Lettings & Management. In his spare time, which he is now pleased to have more of, Gordon enjoys holidays in his Caravan, playing golf and occasionally winning at Badminton.

Kevin has been working at Scriven & Co since 1982 after graduating from Birmingham Polytechnic. Kevin soon became a Chartered Surveyor in 1984, and has a mass of experience in under-taking Surveys and carrying out valuations. In Kevin’s spare time he enjoys playing cricket, cycling, and supporting Aston Villa with his son, where he has a season ticket.

Andrew joined the company in May 2004, and passed his AAT exams (accounts qualification) soon after, and has since become an Associate of the company. Andrew is another big Aston Villa fan and goes as often as he can. He also likes to go and watch England play cricket whenever they are at Edgbaston.

Nicola started working for the firm almost as soon as she finished School, and has been part of the furniture ever since. Initially working in the sales department, Nicola now works in Residential Lettings & Property Management. During her time at Scriven & Co Nicola has achieved ARLA level 3 status and has also been made an Associate of the company. In her spare time Nicola loves talking (to anyone), spending time with her family, and indulging in her husband’s incredible home-cooked Michelin Star meals…

Katie joined the Residential Lettings and Management department in 2018 as an apprentice and has recently been promoted to Associate within the company, now managing the lettings department. She holds a Level 3 ARLA Propertymark qualification and is nearing completion of her Level 4 qualification, which will earn her Fellowship status. Outside of work, Katie enjoys exploring new restaurants (with a keen eye on the cocktail menu!), spending time with family and soaking up the sun on holiday.

Gerry has been an employee of Scriven & Co for roughly 30 years, and during his time at the firm, he has worked at a number of offices, and brings a huge amount of experience and knowledge to the department. Not only does Gerry chip in with viewings, he is also our IT expert and knows the company inside out. In Gerry’s spare time he loves visiting Scotland and walking his two dogs Archie and Hamish.

Yvonne has spent all of her life working in the estate agency business. Starting with a local firm when she left college in 1986 in the residential sales department and then joining Scriven & Co. in 1991 in the commercial department. Yvonne has been actively involved at St. Giles Church since 2015 as a Churchwarden for 9 years and now as Deputy Warden. Yvonne also enjoys being involved with Messy Church and children’s activities. She also enjoys baking (and eating) cakes!

Layah has been working in the property industry for three years, gaining hands-on experience in property management and lettings. She’s passionate about helping clients find the right fit and always strives to make the process as smooth as possible. When she’s not at work, Layah loves hiking and traveling. Whether it's exploring new places or enjoying the outdoors, she’s always looking for her next adventure, which helps her recharge and stay inspired.

Ella joined Scriven and Co. in 2022 as part of the residential sales team. She has since completed her level 2 qualification in estate agency and is currently working towards achieving her level 3. Prior to working for Scriven & Co, Ella gained valuable experience in residential lettings with a busy city centre firm. Outside of work, Ella enjoys spending time with friends and family and taking trips, whether it’s to a city, the countryside, or visiting her second home in Malaga, Spain, where her grandparents live. Ella also enjoys exercising and the occasional spa break to relax.

Andrew has worked in both sales and lettings for many years and recently joined the team at Scriven & Co to help with property viewings.

Born and living locally he has a sound knowledge of the area also. Andrew particularly enjoys anything printed, being creative whenever time allows, catching up with family, going to the theatre, concerts and eating out.

Alison joined Scriven and Co in 2024 as an addition to the Residential Sales department, where she is working towards gaining her Level 3 certificate in Estate and Lettings Agents. Prior to working at Scriven and Co, Alison was a Primary School teacher for 30 years working in a number of schools in the Birmingham and Dudley areas.  Outside of work Alison enjoys socialising with friends and family, reading and painting.

Fiona graduated with a first-class honours’ degree in Accounting & Finance from The University of Birmingham in 2009. She then went on to complete her ACCA accounting qualification before joining the Scriven and Co accounts department in 2012. In her spare time Fiona enjoys walking her dog Fudge, jetting off on city breaks, and going to watch Halesowen Town FC. She is also a ‘bottomless brunch’ enthusiast!

Fiona has worked in the accounts industry since leaving School, and over the years she has worked within account departments of building contractors, pay-roll and now estate agency. Having lived in Aberdeen for the first 25 years of her life, Fiona enjoys returning to Scotland as much as possible to visit her family and friends. In her spare time, Fiona loves shopping, watching “Friends”, and travelling up and down the country watching her two boys play football. In between all the football and “Friends” watching, you might find Fiona eating out, or walking her dog Vegas.

Emmie-jai has been working in the property industry for almost two years, where she has gained valuable experience and developed a strong understanding of the sector. She has also earned a qualification in business administration, which has enhanced her professional skills. Outside of work, Emmie-Jai enjoys travelling the world, shopping, and spending quality time with family and friends.

Ruby recently joined our team as an assistant in the Commercial Department. As she begins her career in property management, estate agency and marketing, she is eager to develop her knowledge of commercial property and gain hands-on experience in all aspects of the business. Outside Scriven and Co and besides completing training modules, she enjoys socialising at the weekend, going to the gym, and shopping.
