Romsley & Hunnington

Romsley village is found on the east side of the Clent Hills about four miles south of Halesowen.

In Hunnington the former Blue Bird Toffee Factory founded in 1898 by Harry Vincent. Vincent had similar ideas to Cadbury and Fry’s with regards to the workplace being a pleasant environment. Blue Bird left in 1998. The impressive building remains as you drive from Halesowen along the Bromsgrove Road towards the village of Romsley passing green belt countryside and a variety of housing.

Romsley village has local shopping facilities and The Sun public house. The Swallows Nest Public House is also on the Bromsgrove Road as is St Kenelms Primary School. The St Kenelms Church, which originated from the 12th century, is found on Chapel Lane and is definitely worth a visit.

The former Romsley Hill Sanatorium, which opened its doors to patients in 1913, was acquired by Samuel Park Estates and converted into 48 luxury apartments in a superb setting just off Farley Lane. Many of the apartments have a magnificent outlook down the Severn Valley and towards the Malvern Hills.
