Work begins to prepare Somerset housing development

Work has been undertaken on a proposed housing development in
Wells, although developers claim there may still be a way to go
before the houses are erected.
House hunters looking for
property for sale in Somerset will be pleased to hear that work
has begun on trying to gain planning permission, with three large
trenches in field to the west of the site.
The proposed land for the development is situated between Wells and
Haybridge and while the digging of trenches may have attracted
attention from local residents, Simon Steel-Perkins, of the
Exeter-based Strategic Land Partnership, claims that everything is
above board.
Mr Steel-Perkins said: "The archaeological investigations have been
authorised by Somerset County Council and are just one of the many
different types of surveys that have to be done before anyone can
think of applying for planning permission."
The government recently announced a fund to help stalled housing
developments get back up and running again.
