Taunton, at the centre of a delightful county

Taunton, the county town of Somerset is one of the area's liveliest
yet most charming spots. It boasts a strong, vibrant high street
set against a backdrop of serene Somerset countryside, one of the
many reasons why so many people are keen on finding
property for sale in Taunton.
The town itself is located in the heart of the county, just off the
M5 motorway, and is surrounded by a plethora of small Somerset
villages each with individual charisma. Local cuisine and places to
see are not in short supply with the local area having plenty of
both. Cider and other local farm produce are always plentiful on
the narrow country lanes while tourists sites such as Glastonbury
Tor, the Wookey Hole and Lyme Regis keep people coming back
year-on-year.
Taunton has a rich military history, being the base of 40 commando
from the Royal Marines, while it is also one of the main commercial
and retail sites of Somerset. This is thanks to its high street and
also a number of commercial sites around the town. Perhaps
unsurprising, given it is the largest town in the county.
It is currently undergoing an urban regeneration plan to keep it
driving the local economy and to encourage people to set up home
there.
The reputation that Taunton has for being a real hub of the county
and a top Somerset player is helped by its impressive transport
links. Taunton rail station is located close to the town centre,
while its close location to Bristol Airport means air travel is not
out of the question either. The aforementioned M5 offers a good
road link further north.
Taunton's rich history coupled with its impressive commercial and
residential opportunities mean that it should always be considered
when looking to move to the Somerset region.
