RICS launches new qualification for residential estate agents

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has rolled-out
the second stage of its new AssocRICS qualification.
Under this scheme, professionals who have not followed the usual
graduate route to train in the sector of residential surveys and
valuation will have the opportunity to qualify in these areas, as
well as in residential agency sales and lettings.
Commenting on the initiative, Louis Armstrong, chief executive at
RICS, said: "The new entry-level qualification is an opportunity
for many who would like a career in the property sector, but have
previously been denied access to a professional qualification due
to a lack of academic qualifications."
He added that it would help raise standards across the residential
sector and boost consumer confidence in the industry.
RICS has over 100,000 qualified members worldwide and trains
thousands of people every year.
It also sets out guidelines for those working in the industry and
offers advice on best practice within the profession.
