Land Registry figures show house prices down

House prices are down, according to the release of new figures from
the Land Registry.
The organisation has revealed that during October 2010, the average
price of a house fell by 0.8 per cent.
This means the average property value in England and Wales fell to
£165,505 over the course of the month.
Despite this, eight regions across the two nations recorded a rise
in house prices last month, including London, which saw an increase
of 7.6 per cent.
"The most up-to-date figures available show that during August
2010, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales rose
by one per cent to 58,783 from 58,270 in August 2009," he
said.
Statistics show that while house prices are down in the last month,
they are still 3.6 per cent up on the statistics from this time in
2009.
This comes after Rightmove revealed that asking prices have
declined by 3.2 per cent during November 2010.
