Houses for sale in the country 'in high demand'

People are desperate to buy houses
for sale in the countryside, an expert has said.
Katy John, press officer for affordable house price campaign group
PriceOut.org.uk, said that first-time buyers in the countryside are
being "displaced by second home owners and buy-to-let
investors".
She added that "housing affordability has become an increasing
problem", particularly for young people in rural areas.
The National Housing Federation's recent findings confirmed Ms
John's concerns, revealing that 38 per cent of people in the
countryside thought that older people were becoming more isolated
as younger families are being pushed out of villages due to high
property prices.
However, this comes as good news to homeowners, as Knight Frank
reported that the average value of houses in the countryside rose
by 2.5 per cent in the second quarter of the year.
It also showed that houses in rural areas are eight per cent higher
than they were 12 months ago.
