Asking price rise reported

Asking prices for UK homes have risen this month, new data has
indicated.
Property website Rightmove's figures for this month indicate a jump
of 1.2 per cent in the amounts demanded from January, an increase
to £216,163 from £213,570.
The finding may suggest that the affordability of homes for
first-time buyers and home movers is declining, but director of
statistics Miles Shipside said the increase meant that sellers had
"ignored" the sentiment of others in the same situation.
He added that the coming months should see asking prices falling
again and noted that this could tap into "pent up" demand, as
January saw a 108 per cent increase in enquiries on a year
earlier.
Commenting on the news, the National Association of Estate Agents
suggested the figures may be an indication that the market is
bottoming out in some parts of the country.
